MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Welcome to Mathias Elementary School! I am Korienne Toney, and it is my privilege to serve as principal of this outstanding learning community.
At Mathias, we believe that every child deserves to feel valued, supported, and inspired to learn. Our staff is dedicated to creating a positive environment where students are challenged academically, encouraged socially and emotionally, and empowered to reach their full potential. Each day, we work to provide meaningful learning experiences that help students grow in confidence, character, and achievement.
Our mission guides everything we do: "At Mathias, we are working to create an environment of educational excellence where all belong, all learn, and all succeed." This commitment is reflected in the relationships we build, the high expectations we set, and the support we provide to help every student thrive.
We know that student success is strongest when schools and families work together. Your partnership plays an important role in your child's educational journey, and we value the opportunity to collaborate with you throughout the year. We are excited to welcome our students and families for the 2026-2027 school year! Below you'll find important dates, reminders, and resources to help your family prepare for a successful start to the school year.
Back-to-School Night
Monday, August 10, 2026
Students and families are invited to meet teachers, visit classrooms, and drop off school supplies before the first day of school.
Kindergarten: 4:30-5:00 p.m.
Grades 1-5: 5:00-6:00 p.m.
First Day of School
Wednesday, August 12, 2026

2026-2027 Supply List for Elementary Students
School supply lists are available in English and Spanish by grade level below.

With ParentSquare, families can:
- Receive school announcements and reminders
- Communicate with teachers and staff
- View classroom updates and photos
- Sign up for conferences and events
- Complete forms and permission slips
- Receive school and emergency notifications
For additional school news, celebrations, and highlights, follow Joe Mathias Elementary on Facebook.
Families who may qualify for meal assistance should complete a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application.
Meal benefits do not automatically carry over from year to year. Applications must be completed annually to determine eligibility.
Starting July 1, applications may be submitted online or completed in person during Meet Your Teacher Night.
